Thanks a Bunch!!!!!!

Thank you to all the chairs and volunteers who made our charitable events in November and December such a success. We appreciate all your time and effort. We would like to especially thank the following individuals:

Katelyn Murphy & Lisa Drelich – Co-chairs of the Giving Tree/Adopt-A-Family Program
Ami Lau – Chair of the Silent Auction Michelle Christman,
KC Hellenkamp, & Angie Roberts – for their invaluable contributions to the Silent Auction
Art Laubach – For his incredible refurbishment of our Giving Tree

These events would not be successful without the generous financial support of our Adobe Bluffs Families. We are grateful to all who have contributed.

Ability Awareness Day - Thursday, January 11

Ability Awareness Day - Thursday, January 11

We are all so lucky to be at Adobe Bluffs where the students, teachers, and staff are so accepting of the differences that make our kids who they are. But the kind of positive, inclusive environment that our kids enjoy at school doesn’t happen by accident.

For the past several years, Ms. Esther (the K-1 ASD teacher) has been the driving force behind Ability Awareness Week at Adobe Bluffs. Though she is on leave this year, a group of dedicated parent volunteers have taken over to make sure the program happens again.

In addition to related lessons and activities every day next week, Wednesday, January 11, is Ability Awareness Day. From 8:30-11:20, every student at Adobe Bluffs, from preschool through 5th grade, will rotate through stations to meet seven inspirational guest speakers who experience various disabilities. Each will share his or her story in a positive manner in order to help students understand the power of individuals and their abilities. Students will learn the importance of treating ALL people with respect and how to be a super friend.

If you are available to help out or if you have any questions, please contact Michelle O’Connor-Ratcliff (oconnor_mi@yahoo.com).
